My husband loves a great steakhouse and I love a great deal, so our Valentine’s date this year was an easy decision. We headed to Fleming’s up in Walnut Creek for their Tomahawk Tuesday deal, which includes a giant 35oz USDA Prime Tomahawk steak to share, plus two salads, two desserts, and unlimited bread and butter (their bread is warm and delicious, with special compound butters). We celebrated before the holiday, which made for a festive week!
Every Fleming’s may have slightly different pricing; ours was $160 for the Tomahawk Tuesday experience.
We were celebrating our anniversary, and Fleming’s showed up! A signed card, a nice placard to let everyone know, confetti on the table, and the coziest corner booth–we felt very celebrated and cared for.
We enjoyed two cocktails: the Blueberry Lemon Drop ($18), a refreshing riff on the classic, and the Pineapple Castaway ($18), a delicious and dangerous rum and pineapple concoction, where the alcohol hid behind the fruit. Potent and delicious!

Normally we skip an appetizer but the crab cakes with a roasted red pepper & lime butter sauce were calling our names, and they were so good. Sometimes crab cakes can be more bread than crab, but these were thick, rich, and full of crab–definitely up there with the best crab cakes I ever had. ($31) I highly recommend them as an appetizer, especially if you want some “surf & turf” vibes.
Next it was time for our salads–I opted for a Caesar, as the last time we came, I was pregnant and could not enjoy a Caesar, which is my favorite! At Fleming’s, they top it with large shavings of Parmesan and crispy prosciutto crumbles. Solomon went for the Fleming’s Salad, which is a delicious mix of lettuce, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, red onion, campari tomatoes, and lemon balsamic vinaigrette.

Then out came the main event–a giant steak, with our choice of two sides. We opted for the Corn Brûlée, which was basically corn pudding with a Brûlée-d topping. It was tasty and a little spicy. We also got the Fleming’s Potatoes (an extra cheesy potatoes au gratin with some jalapeno to keep it interesting!). We had filled up on bread and crab cakes and salad though, so we ended up taking a lot of the main course home (it was great leftover).

Solomon had seen a special dessert (Bananas Foster Bread Pudding) so we got that along with a creme brûlée to take home. Unfortunately, the torch broke RIGHT after our corn brûlée was prepared, so it ended up just being the vanilla bean custard with berries. It was a tasty dessert the next night though.

The bread pudding was a little disappointing. It was too thick and heavy. I mostly ate the ice cream on top. But we were so full and happy at that point that we just resolved to order a familiar favorite next time, and went home very happy!
Our first date at Fleming’s was two days before we got engaged, down in Anaheim. It was such a positive, delicious experience that when we learned of Tomahawk Tuesday, we took advantage of it a few times, especially for special occasions, like birthdays or anniversaries or Valentine’s Day. While I am normally a shop local/eat local girl, there is something comforting about the consistency and quality of experiences at Fleming’s, and the Tomahawk Tuesday deal can’t be beat!
